The harsh realities about the persistent absence of diversity within the Tech sector is truly a sad state of affairs. Despite the fact that most countries have laws in place to make workplaces more equal, AI-driven hiring effectively avoids these laws and more worryingly appears to exacerbate the problem. AI technologist Kriti Sharma recently told a TED audience, “Somehow AI has become above the law, because a machine made the decision.” Encouraging to read here though that there are a growing number of initiatives to tackle this issue and that they’re building in strength, particularly within countries like Germany where a large number of immigrants have joined the population in the last few years. Here at iTrust Partnering we consistently focus on utilising our core values of being Ethical and treating all candidates with Equality – we feel this is surely the very minimum you owe to everyone you come into contact with, whether it be in your professional world or otherwise. Fantastic to read here that other start-ups operating in the German market – Bunch.ai and Moberries - are pushing the boundaries with their approach to ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity. https://www.redherring.com/top-story/bias-and-artificial-intelligence-ghosts-in-the-machine/
