Meaningful Values = Christmas Spirit

December 21, 2018

The iTrust Partnering team had the pleasure of being able to bring along their partners to our very jolly Christmas Party this year.  This was the first time in our whole careers that many of us had ever been given the opportunity to come with our partners to a festive work celebration.  We even extended Secret Santa to the whole party, so the present sack was fit to burst!

It is obviously more expensive and more complicated to plan a party that includes the loved ones of every team member, (particularly when half the team live in another country!), but family values underpin our organisation.

Christmastime provides an opportunity to recognise that we spend more waking hours with our colleagues and engrossed in our work than we do with those we love, whether they be partners, children, extended family, or our greatest friends.  Our professional lives can often require huge amounts of our energy and focus, so we need our families to support us through the good and the bad days and weeks we have at work.

Bringing our partners along to enjoy the end of year celebrations feels appropriate as a way of thanking them for the part they play in the success of our careers.

What are your experiences of Christmas parties?  Are partners welcomed or expected to stay away to save the bar bill expanding too much?  Is the spirit of Christmas reflected in your company values?
